Vladimir Putin: Russia and Tajikistan are Constantly Working Together on Security and Defence
On October 9, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, met at the Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe.
Special attention was paid to defence and security issues. President Putin emphasized that Russia and Tajikistan are reliable allies and regularly cooperate in the field of security.
"Russia and Tajikistan are constantly working together on security and defence, taking into account the difficult situation in the region," Vladimir Putin said.
Both leaders praised good progress in this collaboration, which is important for ensuring stability in Central Asia.
"It is gratifying that our relations today are progressing well and we maintain an active political dialogue," Emomali Rahmon pointed out.
Following the talks, 15 joint documents are to be signed. The key document will be a joint statement on deepening the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Tajikistan.
Vladimir Putin also expressed his gratitude to Emomali Rahmon for deep respect for Russian culture and language in Tajikistan, which contributes to strengthening humanitarian ties between the two countries.
The Russian president's visit has state status and underlines the importance of the Russian-Tajik strategic partnership in different areas, including their cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
On October 23-24, Tajikistan will host a coordination meeting of representatives of defence and security committees and participate in observing military exercises with the representatives of the parliaments of the CSTO countries.
