Security Council of the Russian Federation Named CSTO the Only Association Ensuring Security of Member States and Neighboring Territories
At a meeting of the CIS Committee of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, ahead of Russia's upcoming chairmanship of the CSTO in 2026, improving cooperation within the Organization was discussed.
The meeting participants acknowledged that in the context of the rapidly approaching multipolar world order, the CSTO has every opportunity to strengthen its position as one of the key elements of the emerging comprehensive security architecture in Eurasia. In addition, the Organization remains an essential and, by most criteria, the only intergovernmental association capable of ensuring the security not only of its members, but also of territories adjacent to areas of collective responsibility.
Furthermore, the meeting participants placed an emphasis on the importance of strengthening coordination within the CSTO, improving cooperation mechanisms, collaborating with other states and international organizations, adapting to a dynamically changing environment and developing effective measures to respond to existing and emerging security challenges and threats, including preventive actions.
