Oleg Sviridenko: it's Important to Take Preventive Measures to Protect Sovereignty
At the thematic session of the CSTO PA, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF-2025), Oleg Sviridenko, deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, made a statement on the need to further strengthen legislation in the field of protection against foreign influence.
In his speech, Sviridenko emphasized that such measures are becoming a worldwide trend for states facing interference in internal affairs.
"States that have experienced the consequences of interference in their internal affairs from abroad are choosing to formulate legislation in the field of protection from foreign influence. In their policy, they are prioritizing measures to ensure the country's sovereignty and security. Let us show foresight and take preventive measures without waiting for social upheavals instigated from outside," Oleg Sviridenko pointed out.
During the discussion, he noted that Russian legislation allows recognizing anyone who acts against the interests of the country as a foreign agent, and the measures to control the work of those under foreign influence were forced and necessary.
Sviridenko emphasized that Russia will continue to improve mechanisms for protecting sovereignty
