The capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
A coordination meeting of heads of parliamentary delegations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Member States took place today during the Assembly.
The meeting was opened and hosted by Aizhigit Tynaliev, member of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The participants discussed key issues related to strengthening cooperation between parliamentary delegations of the CSTO states, including priorities set for the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CSTO in 2025.
Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, spoke about the importance of harmonizing positions of the CSTO Member States to develop cooperation within the Eurasia geopolitical group.
Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO PA, informed his colleagues about the work on the margins of the IPU and interaction with other international organizations on issues of mutual interest, especially in the field of security and exchange of the best legislative practices.
The 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union has gathered around 2000 delegates from 181 countries, this year being the first time the IPU Assembly is held in Central Asia. “Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice” is the main topic of the forum.
