On October 24, members of the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States observed the military exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Tajikistan.
Vladimir Bulavin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, praised the high level of coordination between the participants of the exercises.
"Any kind of cooperation consists of three components. The first component is the exchange of information. The second – joint planning. And the third component is the consolidation of forces and assets. We discussed the operational environment in detail yesterday at the Coordination Meeting session. Today's observation of the military exercises by CSTO parliamentarians confirmed the high level of coordination between the participants and the transparency of the procedures. All information was provided on time, clear criteria for evaluating maneuvers and agreed risk assessment parameters were used," Vladimir Bulavin pointed out.
According to him, the monitoring mission demonstrated the stability of the collective approach and the Organization's readiness to respond promptly to situation developments in order to ensure the security of the region and compliance with international obligations.
