International Inter-University Conference on Security Takes Place in Bishkek
On May 14-15, under the auspices of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University is hosting the International Inter-University Scientific and Practical Conference “From National to Global Security: Priorities of Kyrgyzstan's Chairmanship in the CSTO in 2025. Multifactor Assessment of Challenges, Threats and Risks to the Stable Development of Central Asia”.
The representatives of Kyrgyzstan's leading universities, scientific institutions, government authorities, and experts in the field of international security and sustainable development are attending the conference.
Today, on May 14, a plenary session of the Conference was held. The participants were welcomed by the management of the KNU and the representatives of the Jogorku Kenesh, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and security agencies, as well as scientific and educational institutions.
Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, stressed the importance of academic dialog for strengthening collective security.
“This conference is a proof that Kyrgyzstan is actively and successfully presiding over the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2025 and honorably fulfilling the duties undertaken in this position. This includes the parliamentary dimension of the Organization and its informational and analytical component, which importance can hardly be overestimated,” Sergei Pospelov pointed out.
Section meetings and a round table for young scientists and students are next on the agenda. The issues of international and regional security, energy and environmental security, countering destructive ideologies, and biological and food security will be discussed. On May 15, the participants will prepare and adopt the final Recommendations of the Conference.
During the work of the sections, the participants are drawing special attention to the review of national strategies in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the matters of harmonization of legislation, regional cooperation, and modern threats and risks to the stable development of Central Asia.
