A working meeting of the chiefs of staff of the border agencies of the CIS Member States (also members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization) took place in Jarkent (Kazakhstan). The topic of discussion was combating threats at external borders.
Colonel General Aleksandr Manilov, Chairman of the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops, briefed the participants of the meeting on the current situation and measures aimed at improving security.
Representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the meeting. They discussed the current challenges of border security, exchange of experience in combating cross-border crime and ways to improve the joint work.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen coordination to more effectively respond to emerging threats. After the official part, the delegates visited a museum and took part in tree planting on the territory of the Kazakhstani border guard unit.
