The collective forces of the CSTO member states are gradually managing to stop the crisis situations in the region. This is stated in an article by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, published in the National Defense magazine.
He noted that due to the growing conflict potential in the world, the first half of the decade was not easy either in the life of the states of the region or in the development of the CSTO as a whole. "However, it seems that the peak of the security crisis in the CSTO area of responsibility has already been passed," Tasmagambetov noted.
"Most states in the region recognize that the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which demonstrates great potential for resilience in a difficult historical period of changing the world order, makes a significant contribution to strengthening security and stability in Eurasia," said Imangali Tasmagambetov.
According to him, in 2025, the main focus of the Organization's work has become ensuring security in the cybersphere, as the vulnerability of infrastructure critical for states increases with the introduction of digital technologies.
"The Organization's task is to come up with joint solutions to prevent challenges and threats to cybersecurity. To this end, the Secretariat has worked with the Chair country, the Kyrgyz Republic, on a number of initiatives. As a result, the first CSTO International Conference on Cybersecurity was held in Issyk-Kul region in Kyrgyzstan in June 2025. The event was attended by more than two hundred delegates from the relevant structures of the CSTO member states, as well as representatives of leading companies in the field of information and communication technologies. As part of the discussions, sessions on international information security and cyber training were organized," the CSTO Secretary General shared.
Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that the created mechanisms for countering drug trafficking, illegal migration, international terrorism and crime using information technology have also been developed.
