Abdyzhapar Bekmatov: We Will Make Every Effort to Arrange Open and Democratic Elections
Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, has scheduled early parliamentary elections for 30 November.
According to the presidential decree, the Central Election Commission of the Republic is tasked with organizing the elections in compliance with Kyrgyzstan's legislation and implementing remote voting. The Cabinet of Ministers is to allocate necessary funds for the elections and take measures to ensure the legitimacy, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens and maintain public order.
Abdyzhapar Bekmatov, member of the Central Commission on Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic, stressed that the elections must be open and democratic.
"The decision to hold early parliamentary elections on 30 November is an important step for the stable development of our country. We will avoid holding two large-scale election campaigns in a row, parliamentary and presidential, which could lead to political instability and create significant financial and organizational difficulties. Holding elections this year will allow us to focus on the effective work of all branches of government and provide conditions for a transparent and fair electoral process. We will make every effort to arrange open and democratic elections, with maximum citizen participation," Abdyzhapar Bekmatov emphasized.
As you may recall, deputies of the 7th convocation will retain the authority until the deputies of the new convocation assume their posts.
